Smiling in Thailand

Wat Phra Kaew - Classical Bangkok Attraction. One of the main features about
Bangkok for the tourist, is the fact that a very modern city, sits quite happily
side by side with Thai traditions and historic buildings.
The Elephant Building Landmark - Bangkok - Tuk Chang.
The Elephant Building. A towering
high-rise building on Phaholyothin Road &
Ratchadaphisek Road in Bangkok.
Characteristically it was built to look like an elephant - noting the importance of Elephants in Thailand's history.
32 floors high, the Elephant Building is 102 metres tall.
The Elephant building is not the most beautiful of buildings - in fact it has received votes in a competition to pinpoint the world's most ugly building!
For me, living near the Elephant B
uilding is a blessing, as I try to explain to taxi driver's where I need to get home to.
A Nice little story about the start of the Elephant Building - maybe true - maybe not.
"just across the way from the Elephant Building is the stunning SCB Park Plaza. Understandably, the owners of SCB were well pleased with their landmark building. Later, plans were submitted for the Elephant Building to be built, and the SCB were not too happy that the Elephant was going to charge at them front on - bringing bad luck, if not total chaos. Anyway, Elephant and SCB Park Plaza seem to be living in happy, so no problem!
